Our newest addition to our family, the Onderstepoort LiC team, just completed their first set of lessons at Onderstepoort Primary School, and what an incredible 12 weeks it was!
Instead of our usual 6 week course, we spent 12 weeks teaching 2 classes of 65 students per week. With this being the largest number of students we’ve worked with at once, you would think it would be nothing but chaos!
But working with this group was the easiest job in the world – so many eager little faces, so many questions, and so many classes filled with silent awe.
As always, the highlight of our lessons was the post-teaching excursion! With over 100 students, and with them all being quite young and excitable (they were all only in grade 3!), it wasn’t possible to take them all to Dinokeng for a game drive as we usually would, so we had to improvise… with a mobile zoo!
Raising our cause high, all the of the little creatures and critters we learnt about and handled were rehabilitated, and so couldn’t be released back into the wild. Some caused screams, some caused smiles, but all caused happiness, and we couldn’t have had a better send off.
Luckily enough, we got to take another trip back to OP Primary to hand out some incredible stationary packs that PNA sponsored for the children – thank you PNA!

Everyone got a pencil case filled with goodies like pencils, erasers, scissors, crayons, pencil crayons, and rulers, and the team got to spend another timeless afternoon with their students.
We can’t wait to check up on all our sleeping lions next year!
